Match the prescription and mode
Confirm the diagnosis, pressure range, fixed or automatic mode, and whether another form of positive-pressure therapy is required. CPAP should not be substituted for another ventilatory device without clinical direction; contact the care team if breathing or tolerance changes.
Mask fit matters more than brand
Nasal, pillow, and full-face masks suit different breathing habits, leak patterns, skin, and sleep positions. Overtightening can cause discomfort while a loose mask leaks. Use the mask-fit procedure and seek help for persistent leaks or skin injury.
Clean as the manufacturer directs
Masks, tubing, humidifier chambers, and filters have different care schedules. Clean and air-dry them as directed by the manufacturer, never immerse the powered unit, and do not replace normal cleaning with ozone or UV devices not authorized for the equipment.
Bedroom and travel planning
Place the machine on a stable, ventilated surface where tubing will not be pulled. Prevent water from flowing back from the humidifier. Before travel, confirm voltage, plug, airline policy, medical documentation, and cabin-baggage arrangements.

CPAP Rental FAQ
Can I try CPAP without a sleep assessment?
It is not recommended. A clinician should confirm the diagnosis, therapy mode, and pressure range because other sleep or breathing conditions may need different treatment.
Does mask leak mean the machine is unsuitable?
Not necessarily. Leaks may come from size, straps, mask style, sleep position, or wear. Repeat the fit procedure and seek supplier or clinical help if leaking continues.
Can an ozone cleaner be used for CPAP?
Follow the CPAP and accessory manufacturer's cleaning instructions. Unauthorized ozone or UV devices should not replace normal cleaning and may damage materials or introduce other risks.
